What is Cooliris?
Cooliris (formerly PicLens) is a plugin for your browser (available for Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari).
After you installed the plugin to your browser, you can browse the pictures of this site (and others that support Cooliris) fullscreen in 3D, like on a virtual picture wall. It will look like this:

Personally, I think Cooliris is one of the greatest ways to display picture galleries on websites. If you would like to download it for your viewing pleasure, you can do it here: http://cooliris.com
After having installed the plugin, you will notice a small icon that appears on any picture upon mouse-over. Click the icon to start Cooliris. Close Cooliris by hitting “Esc” or pressing the “X” on the top right edge of the screen.
For further questions, check the Cooliris website.

Cooliris looks great, but it is still ignoring linux. For a webapp, this is not tolerable.
Thanks for the feedback, Jan!
Indeed, I would prefer as well if Cooliris would support linux. Maybe there is still hope – the developers have stated that they would like to support linux, as soon as time would allow it.
But saying that it’s not tolerable may be a bit harsh. Cooliris is not mandatory to view this or other websites, it’s just a bonus. If it were mandatory, then I would indeed not use it. After all, the site should be accessible for as many visitors as possible.
So I hope that those who can’t or don’t want to use Cooliris will still enjoy the site. If there is something I could add to enhance the experience, please let me know – I’m always open for suggestions!
Cheers
Stefan
