Berlin, Germany. October 2009.

Night view of the Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom), with the television tower at the Alexanderplatz in the background.

Despite of commonly being referred to as Cathedral (or ‘Dom’ in German), it is actually a Protestant church, that has never been the seat of a Catholic bishop. It was built between 1894 and 1905 after plans of Julius Raschdorff.

Stemwede – Oppenwehe, Germany. May 2009.

The old ‘Bockwindmühle’ (Post Mill) in Oppenwehe was built around 1700, and moved to its current location in 1873. It is one of 43 restored windmills along the “Westfälische Mühlenstraße” (Westphalian Mills Route), located in the county of Minden-Lübbecke.

Flensburg Port

Flensburg, Germany. February 2007.

It was a cold and overcast day in Flensburg, but when my wife and me were down at the pier, the sun peaked through the clouds for a few seconds, to create a magic athmosphere. It lasted just long enough for me to take this picture.

Port of Hamburg at Night

June 4th, 2008 No comments

Hamburg, Germany. June 2007.

The port never sleeps. Daylight is replaced by thousands of lamps, so that work can go on for the night shift. Every day, every night.

Taken from St. Michaelis church tower (Hamburg’s emblem, the ‘Michel’) out of the hand with an exposure time of 1/2 second.

Agios Panteleimon

Near Prinias, Crete / Greece. May 2008.

The Agios Panteleimon Chapel is watching over the area around Iraklion. The chapel is located within the ancient Minoan ruins of Rizinia. Seems that the fascination of a stunning view worked already 4000 years ago.

The chair may have seen better times already. But the view on the beautiful old port of Chania is priceless.
